Interior Design

Hongmin Restaurant, MBK Center, Bangkok.

“Exterior and Interior design covering an area of 147 sq.m restaurant, our concept revolves around Modern-Chinese aesthetics. Our primary goal is to reimagine the space as a contemporary 'Tavern', drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of traditional taverns. To achieve this, we meticulously integrate elements reminiscent of these establishments' charm and character.

One of our key design strategies involves the thoughtful incorporation of lines and patterns characteristic of traditional taverns, serving as captivating front decorations. Furthermore, we introduce curved elements evocative of the bottom of a sailboat, adorning the walls on both sides of the restaurant. These elements not only pay homage to the maritime traditions intertwined with Chinese culture but also add a dynamic visual appeal to the space.

To reinforce the Chinese identity, we infuse the design with vibrant red elements, symbolic of traditional Chinese architecture and culture. These accents punctuate the space, adding depth and authenticity to the Modern-Chinese narrative we seek to convey.

A particularly striking feature of our design lies in the ceiling treatment, where we emulate the appearance of water streaks. By illuminating these streaks with red lights at night, we create a mesmerizing visual spectacle that enhances the ambiance and immerses patrons in the experience. As daylight fades and the evening unfolds, the transition to the illuminated ceiling imparts a sense of stepping into a different world—a world where the spirit of the tavern meets the elegance of Modern-Chinese design.”
